Open Calling
All poker experts can attest to the fact that the open call is a mistake in poker. By doing this you’re just inviting players to isolate you and bully you into submission. If you’re entering the pot, raise and don’t just call. This will enable you to play the hand more profitably on future rounds.
Over Betting
Whilst there are some scenarios where an overbet is worth considering, in most situations it’s going to be a big mistake. Over betting is one of those typical beginner bets where they are either trying to bluff but are risking too much or ambitiously hoping to get value but pricing out opponents. It’s a poor bet for the most part and something that will hurt your win rate.
Playing Raggy Aces
Finally, playing a hand containing an ace in like it’s the nuts is a big mistake in poker. Good player will pick you off all day with their stronger kicker. Beginners see an ace and get a little too excited. Remember, there are still three other aces in the deck. Having a weak kicker i.e., 2 to 9 can cause you to lose lots of chips if your opponent has a bigger 2nd card.
